THE FREDDIE MAC FOUNDATION WEDNESDAY’S CHILD PROGRAM PARTNERS WITH EDUCATION SERVICES COMPANY
Ashley Tutors Marks Second Year Offering Free Tutoring

Washington (DC), December 16, 2011—Freddie Mac Foundation Wednesday’s Child program prepares to continue its work with Ashley Tutors in 2012. Ashley Tutors provides complimentary education services for foster children, those awaiting adoption through Wednesday’s Child, and those who are in the process of being adopted in the metropolitan Washington DC area.

The two organizations have worked together since 2010 and are expanding Ashley Tutors’ role. In the past two years, the Washington-based education services company has tutored almost ten children at no charge to the program or its sponsors. Ashley Tutors plans to provide an additional 100 tutoring hours in 2012 at no charge.

“We were so grateful when Ashley Tutors approached us to provide tutoring services to area foster children at no charge,” said Kamilah Bunn, Program Manager for the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, the organization that coordinates the Freddie Mac Foundation Wednesday’s Child for the DC area. “After their tutors began working with our children, we received praise from social workers, foster parents, adoptive parents, and mentors about the improvements the children were making in school.”

Ashley Tutors’ CEO Joshua Chernikoff agrees. “We founded the company based on the concept that learning is very entertaining. We see proof of that every day because stress melts away from a child when they understand their schoolwork,” he said. “We are happy to help ease any burden felt by the Wednesday’s Child participants. Washington is our hometown, and helping children is our core principle. We’re honored to be part of the Wednesday’s Child program.”
